Ventura County Credit Union (VCCU) was established in 1950 when we began operating in the Ventura County Courthouse with just a few employee volunteers taking turns manning a cash box under a stairwell. With the driving mission and credit union philosophy of people helping people, we began helping members reach their financial goals. Today, VCCU has expanded to over $1 billion in assets and more than 70,000 members with greater expected expansion ahead.

VCCU has 8 locations in Ventura County, CA including Ventura, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Moorpark, and the Collection at RiverPark.

Banks vs. Credit Unions

What is the difference between a bank and a credit union?

While banks set out to satisfy their pool of stockholders, credit unions, like VCCU, aim to satisfy and fulfill our expectations through lower loan rates, higher interest on deposits, and lower fees. Many banks charge unnecessary fees to disburse amongst their stockholders, but we believe in disbursing these perks to you in the form of lower fees and better rates. In other words, our best interest is in you, and not a pool of investors. We also provide financial education and resources to our members so they can optimize their cash flow through our education programs. We also educate children of different ages to provide them with the knowledge they need to make healthy financial decisions in the future.

As a VCCU member, you are an owner of the organization and a valued part of our credit union family. And because we are a member-owned, not-for-profit, community-focused financial institution, everything we do benefits you.

VCCU proudly offers our members:

  • Comprehensive Financial Services
We offer a full scope of financial services to help you reach your financial goals, including savings accounts, checking accounts, investment opportunities, credit cards, loans, mobile and online banking, nationwide ATMs and more.
  • Great Rates
As a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution, everything we earn is reinvested in you (rather than in stockholders, as is the case with many banks). This means we’re able to offer higher returns on deposits, lower loan rates, and fewer fees.
  • Participation in Credit Union Direction
At VCCU, your opinion counts. As a member-owner, you have the opportunity to make your voice heard and influence credit union decisions. If you’d like to get even more involved, we encourage you to volunteer to serve on our Board of Directors or Supervisory Committee.
  • Local Headquarters
Based in Ventura County since 1950, VCCU has 8 branches throughout the region and has won multiple Ventura County Star Readers’ Choice and VC Reporter Best of Ventura County awards. We love this community, and when you bank with us, your money stays local, helping to benefit our shared home.
  • Availability Anywhere
With 8 convenient local branches, a nationwide network of more than 30,000 ATMs, and Online and Mobile Banking services, VCCU is with you wherever you go.
  • Member Perks
Through our Preferred Partner network —which includes organizations such as the Ventura County Fair, TurboTax, and beyond — you can take advantage of discounts, cash rewards and great savings opportunities.
  • Financial Education
As a VCCU member, you have access to free financial counseling and a variety of educational resources through our partnership with BALANCE. We also offer Financial Education Opportunities throughout the year and a quarterly newsletter to help keep you informed on special events and useful banking tips.
  • Community Involvement
When we help our community, we are all better off. VCCU supports a variety of nonprofits throughout the region, attends more than 400 community events per year, and participates on more than 30 volunteer boards. As a member, you can help us make a difference.
