INTERNSHIPS

Internships

  • Public Service Intern Program with the County of Ventura
    College Juniors, Seniors or Graduate Students have the opportunity to work practical and meaningful work/project assignments with various Departments/Agencies throughout the County.
  • Summer at the County High School Internship External Website Policy
    This 6-week PAID summer internship allows students from all Ventura County high schools to learn about various careers in public service by gaining real world work experience and also taking field trips to visit and learn about the services various county agencies provide.
  • Behavioral Health Student Practice Experiences External Website Policy
    Interns will receive a wide range of exposure to clinical experiences in assessment, intervention and case management. Students will work within an integrated, multi-disciplinary, community based behavioral health system.
  • Planning Division Internships – Resource Management Agency External Website Policy
    Gain practical planning experience while being exposed to the various functions of a large planning department and learning about the interconnectedness between various government bodies.
  • Environmental Health Internship – Resource Management Agency External Website Policy
    Gain and overview of all the Environmental Health (EH) programs and hands-on field work with the guidance of a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS). The training will enable students to identify which programs they are interested in which may help them decide which career path to take.
  • Fleet Services Student Worker – General Services Agency (GSA) External Website Policy
    Ventura County GSA Fleet Operations & Oxnard College (School to Work Program) has been partnering since 2015 to allow students to obtain hands on experience in the automotive shops, including body shop, install shop and heavy equipment. A recent student worker stated, “Learning in a hands on work environment has increased my knowledge.”
  • Internships with the County of Ventura District Attorney External Website Policy
    Law students can learn about the criminal justice system first hand.  They work closely with all levels of staff, including deputy district attorneys, investigators, and support staff.  Law students working in one of our special units or Bureau of Investigation can be expected to assist with a number of educational duties.
  • Sheriff’s internship and student opportunities External Website Policy
    The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office offers many career development opportunities through the high school Explorers program, Student Worker paid, part-time employment opportunities, college and high school internships through local colleges/universities and the Ventura County Innovates program. Depending on the student’s interest and school of attendance, there are a range of possible opportunities available within the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. A background investigation is required to work/intern at the Sheriff’s Office and so application and interest should be 3 months in advance (or the semester before the internship).
  • Student Internship Program – Ventura County Public Defender External Website Policy
    The Ventura County Public Defender’s Office is looking for driven students who are committed to advocating for the most vulnerable among us. Our internship program offers an invaluable opportunity for both law and college students to gain hands-on experience in the field of criminal defense. As an intern, you’ll work closely with skilled attorneys and investigators, gaining a unique, insider’s perspective on the criminal justice system and criminal defense litigation.
  • Accounting Internship Program External Website Policy
    This 16-week paid internship creates work-based learning opportunities for students currently enrolled in an academic accounting program. This program will provide students with an opportunity to gain work experience, mentoring, and networking in a public sector accounting environment. The program will allow interns to apply their accounting coursework knowledge in a practical real world structured environment, under the guidance and supervision of an accounting professional.
